Telcon Update for Rotation Button

Telcon Update for Rotation Button

Selecting this check-button updates the coordinates (and the telescope position) for solar rotation. That is, as the sun rotates, the telescope will remain pointed at the current region, tracking it across the disk. This should be the normal mode of operation for active regions, but not for pole or limb studies.

Once this feature is turned on, the displayed coordinates will change slowly with time as the sun's rotation moves them to slightly different places on the disk. Once one arc-second of movement has accumulated from the last pointing, the telescope will move to the updated coordinates. (If Flexure Update is turned on as well, the update moves will occur whenever the sum of the rotation and the flexure updates is 1" or greater.) If the region being followed rotates off the visible disk, an error message will appear and the region will no longer be tracked.
