Telcon Coordinate Display Area
These are the X and Y positions of where the telescope thinks it is
pointed. They are for display only and cannot be edited. If you wish to
enter new coordinates for telescope pointing, use the New button near the Cartesian coordinate display.
The coordinates displayed here may differ from the other displayed
Cartesian coordinates for three reasons:
- If Update for Flexure is on, the telescope
thinks it is pointed somewhere slightly different from where it is really
pointed, since it is flexing and not perfectly rigid. Thus, Telescope
coordinates = Image coordinates + Flexure offsets. You can see the flexure
offsets by clicking on the Disp. Flex. button.
- If either update mode is on, the computer accumulates up to 1" of
difference before issuing a new move command.
- The minimum step size the telescope is able to move is about 0.7".
Thus, there could be up to a 0.35" or so difference in where the telescope is
pointed from where it was told to go. This difference does not, however,
accumulate as each move is given in absolute, not relative, positions.
