PDPRP Description and User's Manuals
Starting and Stopping the PDPRP.
The PDPRP consists of various different components.
Currently they are:
-
LBC - the Light Beam Control
code. Controls the flip mirror cycling between each bench
on the telescopes and talks to the control computers (or
eventually, VCRs) for each bench's instrument. It should
eventually (that word again) control filters and filter wheels
as well.
-
Telcon - the Telescope
Control software. Controls telescope position and motion
and allows for tracking a region as it rotates on the
solar disk and/or as the telescope flexes out of position.
Its gee-whizzy feature is the current solar image where the
observer can click on a region and instruct the telescope
to move there. Eventually, it will have a database of
regions that can be gone to instantly and a scanning mode
to cyclically move the telescope around some region.
-
HQ - HeadQuarters. Handles
all the inter-process communication. For example, tells
LBC when the telescope is moving so it doesn't take a blurry
picture. It is basically an information warehouse. Each
program can give it and request from it, information. It does
not send any information out that is not directly requested.
-
Telpos - Telescope Position
helper program. Continuously tells HQ where the telescope is
and loads the solar image for telcon. Other programs then ask
HQ for the position information and image loading status.
